Why SPF is important for skin protection?

What are UVB and UVA rays and how do I protect my facial skin?

One of the most topical issues in summer is the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation on the skin and how to protect yourself from it.

Ultimately, ultraviolet light is invisible to humans because it has shorter wavelengths than the light we can see. Within the UV spectrum, there are two types of rays (UVA and UVB) that can damage the DNA in the cells of your skin and lead to skin cancer. It is important to protect your skin from both types:

UVB rays cause sunburn and play a key role in the development of skin cancer. The SPF number of sunscreens mainly refers to the amount of UVB protection it provides.

What does SPF number mean?

The SPF number tells us how long we should be exposed to the sun's UV rays to 'redden' our skin, if we use the product exactly as stated on the packaging.

SPF 30 allows about 3% of UVB rays to reach your skin. SPF 50 allows about 2% of those rays to touch your skin. It may seem like a small difference until you realize that SPF 30 allows 50% more UV rays to reach your skin.

But remember that even with the greatest SPF, you need to be careful, apply the cream nicely 20 minutes before going out and apply the cream often during the day (every two hours or right after swimming or sweating).

However, when choosing a face cream, consider the additional benefits:

Hyaluronic acid for extra moisture, which is one of the basic substances in the connective tissue of our skin and supports the firmness, elasticity and suppleness of the skin itself.

Aloe vera helps reduce wrinkles, but also regenerates the skin. It significantly improves elasticity, reducing the appearance of thin lines.
